Orioles plan for mid-season destruction, add sports psychologist to staff

Continuing an offseason of interesting front-office hires and inter-organization movement, Dan Duqette, the Orioles’ executive vice president of baseball operations, has added sports psychologist Seth Kaplan to provide mental-performance services, with a focus on the pitching staff. Considering the inevitable short outings and derailment vs the Yankees, Red Sox, and Rays that comes with being an Orioles pitcher, you have to like the move. Every starter on the O’s staff will at one point in the season think that they aren’t a good pitcher, and it’s up to this guy Seth to convince them that they don’t suck, they just got a little unlucky against Adrian Gonzalez 4 times.
