The ESPN-Tony Romo Love Affair

September 27, 2011

I could write more about this game, but my heart hurts too much so I’ll keep it short. You could not watch the ESPN broadcast of Monday Night Football tonight without noticing the slobberfest going on between Jaws, Gruden and Romo. It was atrocious. I have always been sensitive to a perceived ESPN-Cowboys bias, but tonight seemed to take it to a new level. You would have thought it was Brett Favre out there running around for how much praise the two ESPN commentators were throwing around. When they shot to the booth, I was shocked that Jaws’ glasses weren’t fogged up after how hot and steamy he was getting watching Romo go 22/36 for 255 yards with no touchdowns, one interception and whopping 70.9 QB rating. I understand that the rib was hurt, and he does deserve kudos for playing through pain. Jaws and Gruden really went over the top though, with Gruden saying that it would be one of the great wins in Romo’s career.

As and aside, can we put together a montage of Romo yelling at his teammates? Tonight alone would give us 2-3 minutes.

That’s enough. Time to cry myself to sleep. I’ll leave you with some Romo tweets from tonight’s game.  Tanner Cooley wins MVP by a landslide.

@tannercooley: Ed Werder – “Hey Tony, what can I do to see the inside of your pants?”

bayfrazier (Retweeted by @KingJames): To all u ROMO haters! He has done it again.

(You would think that LeBron would have stopped rooting for Dallas teams, but I digress)

@tannercooley: Ron Jaworski hearts Tony Romo like Tom Brady hearts Rob Gronkowski. #relivethelgloryyearsRON

@matt_terl: Seriously, Jaws: how are you trying to spin this as an amazing game for Tony Romo?

@Russellmania980: Look at Romo going nuts at his center for that bad snap again

@matt_terl: I feel like if I were watching the Tony Romo game that the announcers are describing, it would be a transformational experience.

@tannercooley#honesttweet@Espn needs to get their mouths off the Dallas’s genitals.

@dcsportsbog
: RT @videnieks Tony Romo brokered middle east peace and invented pretty girls.

@chaddukes: I’m a GODDAMN #REDSKINS FAN. I dont hide it. I SAY IT ON AIR. So SAY IT, Jaws! Say it Gruden!! Be a man! Say “I LOVE ROMO.” Id respect that!

@NinersNation@49ersCBSSports I’m having a hard time understanding Jaws as he’s busy blowing Romo

@jdprose: Will Romo at least give Jaws cab money home tonight? Good God. #ESPN

@bemeryultra: Its only a matter of time before Tony Romo and Jason Witten hook up and break your heart. -John Gruden #nfl #mnf

And I’ll throw this one in for good measure…

@sbnationdc: Cross-sport references are funny. RT @jose3030 Not 3, Not 4, Not 5, Not 6… RT @KingJames: We need 7

    Hello there! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
